Macro-Level Determinants of Entrepreneurship and Endogeneity Bias – A Methodological Contribution

چکیده
The eclectic theory of entrepreneurship has identified several macro-determinants national entrepreneurial activities. Taking advantage the availability new databases, recent empirical studies have sought to test these determinants in multicountry using multivariate regression models. Due lack consensus around their results, this paper posits that literature may be subject endogeneity bias, which seriously threatens its accuracy, consistency, and reliability, as well effectiveness resulting management policy recommendations. Consequently, we methodologically demonstrate why how occurs by analyzing theoretical We also provide a step-by-step guide help researchers understand detect correct IV techniques applied panel data analysis early-stage sample 48 countries between 2000 2019. Investigating Endogeneity Bias in Conjoint Models
The use of adaptive designs in conjoint analysis has been shown to lead to an endogeneity bias in part-worth estimates using sampling experiments. In this paper, we re-examine the endogeneity issue in light of the likelihood principle. The likelihood principle asserts that all relevant information in the data about model parameters is contained in the likelihood function. We show that adhering ...
متن کاملRegional determinants of technology entrepreneurship
We explore the regional determinants of entrepreneurial activity with latent variables framework in which entrepreneurship is not observed directly, but manifested in activities such as producing patentable innovations, receiving venture funding and establishing new enterprises. We find that R&D expenditures, the presence of anchor firms, good (small) government and the availability of intellec...
متن کاملBeyond the Endogeneity Bias: The Effect of Unmeasured Brand Characteristics on Household-Level Brand Choice Models
W investigate the role of potential weekly brand-specific characteristics that influence consumer choices, but are unobserved or unmeasurable by the researcher. We use an empirical approach, based on the estimation methods used for standard random coefficients logit models, to account for the presence of such unobserved attributes. Using household scanner panel data, we find evidence that ignor...

We use agent-based modeling to investigate the effect of conservatism and partisanship on the efficiency with which large populations solve the density classification task - a paradigmatic problem for information aggregation and consensus building. We find that conservative agents enhance the populations' ability to efficiently solve the density classification task despite large levels of noise...
